Roy & Associates was established by Yves Roy, who is the co-owner and Certified Financial Planner. The company has grown to represent a variety of individuals and businesses in the Ottawa Valley, and beyond. We have seen many pass through stages of their personal and corporate life, assisted by the comfort of knowing they have made sound decisions on their future planning with us. We are proud to be an integral part of our business community.

Yves Roy, B.Sc. Eng, CFP, CLU

President, Roy & Associates

Certified Financial Planner, Manulife Securities Investment Services Inc.

Yves is the President of Roy & Associates, which he established in 1994. He is responsible for providing our clients with a complete financial planning service, as well as products in the areas of investments, retirement, insurance and estate planning.

He attended Queen’s University and received a degree in Electrical Engineering (Sc 83).  He also completed his graduate D.E.A. from the University of Paris.  As an engineer at Nortel, he travelled extensively for the firm in various positions before redirecting his career to the financial industry in 1990.

The critical factor for this change was that Yves felt there was a need for a higher level of financial services.  He had a desire to talk to people face to face and help them achieve wealth and comfort at different phases of their lives. Yves believes there is nothing more satisfying than developing a client’s financial intelligence and peace of mind. 

In today’s more complicated financial landscape, Yves recognizes the need to be more knowledgeable and committed to clients in order to earn and keep their business.  Yves’ financial planning philosophy is that with a solid technical background and a team approach within the office, he is able to offer tailored solutions to individual clients and businesses, which delivers real value.  Personal experiences such as building his business from the ground up, and years of assisting clients dealing with family death and health matters, enables him to provide valuable insight, experience and empathy for his clients. He is committed to his advancing industry education with designations such as his CFP (Certified Financial Planner), CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and seminars.

It is important for Yves to be involved in the community and give back. He is currently on the Board of the Pembroke/ Petawawa District Community Foundation, and is the President/Treasurer of the Richelieu Club.  He served on the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce executive for years, including two terms as president.  He has been a member of the Business Networking International for over 10 years.  His philanthropic spirit includes donations to Columbus House, Pembroke Hospital Foundation, Krista Johnston Memorial Run for Change and the Turkey Trot.

When he is not busy with work, he enjoys tennis, curling, camping and skiing with his children, Nathaniel and Olivia, and his wife of 28 years, Beverly.

Beverly Roy, B.A.

CEO, Roy & Associates

Associate, Manulife Securities Investment Services Inc.

Beverly is a partner at Roy and Associates and serves as the firm’s CEO. She joined Roy and Associates in 1998 and is responsible for the Operations, Finance, Marketing and Compliance.

A graduate of McMaster University with Mathematics and Psychology, followed by a career in Real Estate Development in Ottawa, Beverly brings with her knowledge in contracting, customer service, and finance.  These experiences and her insights bring a unique perspective to the world of finance and have enabled her to excel at her current position.

She is committed to enhancing operational efficiency so that Roy and Associates can deliver the best services to our clients. She values a team approach for the firm and provides the leadership role required to grow the business and move it forward in a constantly changing industry.

With her guidance, Roy and Associates has grown to 55 million in assets under management. It has developed into a leading comprehensive financial services company for insurance, investments, retirement and estate planning.

Beverly has lived in Pembroke for the last twenty years with her husband, Yves, and has two children, Nathaniel and Olivia.

 

Martin Jones, CHS

Insurance Advisor, Roy & Associates

Martin is a Pembroke native.  He has had over 28 dedicated years in television broadcasting followed by 4 years of owning a lawn and landscaping business in Ottawa prior to entering the financial services industry 13 years ago.  He accredits his knowledge of business management from the years of experience working as executive manager for the CJOH-CTV Television Network Corporation and then operating a successful sole proprietorship.  Martin has experience with negotiations between management and unions, in particular, the application of health benefits and the relationship of the EI, WSIB and CPP within the work place. 

Since 2004 Martin has been a member in good standing with Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada.  Shortly thereafter he acquired certification as a Certified Health Insurance Specialist.  The certification comes with having specialized knowledge in all areas of health and living benefits.  As a contracted broker with various financial companies, Martin can best advise on insurance, investments and banking solutions for personal and business clients through-out their stages of growth, preservation and retirement.

Martin and his wife Maggie have a tremendous passion for nature in all our four seasons.  They are always photographing wildlife and the beauty that the Upper Ottawa and Madawaska Valleys have to offer.  They have three daughters, one son and a granddaughter who they share their experiences, dreams and love of life with.   

Lisa Vanner, B.A. Hon.

Insurance Representative, Roy & Associates

Lisa graduated from Carleton University with a B.A. Honours degree in Law with a concentration in business law.  During her schooling she worked at a local law office where she perfected her researching skills.  This experience has contributed to her ability to effectively research issues for our clients and to get to the root of the subject in an accurate and timely manner. 

After graduating, Lisa obtained her life licence and worked in the Huntsville area as an advisor for several years where she gained fundamental knowledge of the financial and insurance industries before deciding to come back to her Ottawa Valley roots. 

She has also spent many years working for her family’s business which has made her acutely aware of the unique challenges that are faced by small business owners and the difficulties that can arise when planning the succession of these businesses.  In addition she has gained excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to always put the client’s needs first.

Lisa joined Roy & Associates in October 2011 after moving back to the Valley with her husband.  She loves interacting with our clients and helping to ensure that they are prepared for whatever the future brings.  At the office Lisa works with Yves in assisting clients with segregated funds, pension divisions, group RRSPs, life, critical illness and travel insurance.  Lisa will be starting her CFP course this year.

In her spare time Lisa enjoys gardening, baking, and out-fishing her husband Mike. 

Vivian St. Louis

Marketing Assistant, Roy & Associates

Vivian began working at Roy & Associates in May of 2015.  It became quickly apparent that her enjoyment of a fast paced, constant evolving, growing environment made her a perfect fit for this company.  She is the Marketing Assistant for Investments and the general support for our Technology Department at Roy & Associates.

Vivian graduated with Honours from Algonquin College’s Office Administration-Executive program and received multiple awards for her academic performance and success in business.  Her love for learning did not stop there.  She continues to upgrade her skills by taking various courses in the Finance and Business Administration Field. This compliments the excitement of the Investment Department.  Every day is different and challenging and because of her excellent problem solving ability, she takes on these tasks with gusto.

Before joining the team at Roy & Associates, Vivian worked at Algonquin College tutoring students in mathematics and various computer software.  She also worked in tandem with Algonquin College on research projects for local companies.  Her roles included designing websites; preparing, developing and implementing business strategies; as well as creating policy and procedure manuals.  Working with a local accounting firm also gave Vivian an understanding of tax types and the impact it had on a client’s personal income. 

Vivian grew up in Pembroke and is delighted to be part of a thriving locally owned company.  When she is not at work she is just as busy.  She may be spending time with her loving family, teaching someone something new, decorating an elaborate cake or making a new dress.

Marissa Dean

Marketing Assistant, Roy & Associates

Marissa is a Marketing Assistant for the Life Insurance Department.  Her key role is to make sure the Life Insurance Department is running in a top professional manner.  She helps clients with any servicing requirements on their existing policies and supports the advisors through the entire process for any new policy issue.  Marissa always stays ahead of the curve by keeping up to date with new types of products, technology and compliance.  Her role has been expanded to support the Group Pension Department and Term Deposits.

Marissa attended Algonquin College Waterfront Campus in Pembroke, where she graduated with Honours from the Office Administration-Executive program.  During her time at school, she was able to assist fellow students with the program’s curriculum.  This culminated with her important role as the class Project Manager in the grand reopening event for the City of Pembroke’s Boardwalk. 

Marissa has been part of the family business “Play It Again Sports” for five years.  It is here where she developed a great work ethic to provide optimal customer service to its clients.  This experience in retail translated easily into the insurance sector because her goal is to maintain a consistent positive client experience.  In addition to this, her top skills in computer work, high organizational ability and critical thinking is a valuable asset to the team at Roy and Associates.

On weekends you will find Marissa at one of many hockey rinks in the Valley cheering on many family hockey players.

Erica Charette

Administrative Assistant, Roy & Assoicates

Erica Charette joined Roy & Associates in September 2003 and is an important asset to the administrative team.  When she is not greeting clients upon their arrival at the office, she is taking phone calls, booking client appointments and preparing correspondence.

Erica graduated from Algonquin College and started her finance career at one of the local banking institutions. She gained experience from both her volunteer and paid clerical work at the United Way.

Erica has lived in the Ottawa Valley for the last twenty-five years. When she is not spending time at her home in Petawawa with her husband Glenn, she is enjoying time at the family cottage at Round Lake.
